Even if you’re not a writer, you’re an incredible fiction author.
Don’t believe me?
Think about a relationship that’s stressing you out right now. You know you need to talk to that person, but you also know it’s not going to be fun. And because of that, you’ve likely tried to play out in your mind what you think is going to happen when you finally talk with that person.
You may be optimistic and hope for reconciliation, or at least a step in the right direction for the relationship.
Or you may be doubtful and just hoping you don’t scream at the other person.
Either way, you’re creating fantastic fictions about that person.
But here’s the truth about the stories we tell ourselves: seldom are they ever what actually happens and rarely do they decrease your stress or help grow the relationship.
So save your fictions for some other place.
Maybe you should become a writer.
But when you write about that person, remember to change the name.
