I’m committed to helping my clients bring out the best in themselves. After working with clients over the past fifteen years, I’ve come to believe that there are three specific areas in your life that can help you bring out the best in yourself.
1. Take care of yourself.
You may be all too aware of your need to take care of your physical health, but how often do you consider the state of your emotional and relational health? Proper self-care means taking care of yourself in every sphere of your life: physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. When those spheres are all healthy, you may just find the best version of yourself.
2. Properly manage your emotions.
Becoming an adult means learning how to manage your emotions, yet few of us are as adept as we’d like to be in this area of emotional health. The best version of yourself refuses to fight anger with anger or to lash out without regard to other people’s perspectives and circumstances. The best version of you is a mature you.
3. Seek a healthy spiritual life.
Personally, this is an integral part of how I bring out the best version of myself. I’m both inspired and challenged by the Biblical narrative and the community of faith where my family and I are connected. Even if you’re not particularly connected to a faith practice, a healthy spiritual life can guide your actions toward better actions, can make you pause when you want to retaliate, and can bring calm to a stressful day.
Your Best Habits
Each of these methods for bringing about the best version of yourself involves creating and maintaining healthy habits. To truly transform your life and discover the best version of yourself day-by-day, you’ll want to establish habits that can help you progressively become a better you. If you want to make 2016 your year to bring out the best version of yourself, these examples are a great place to start.
